Select a playable part

The part selection tool lets you define a start and end point within an arrangement so the player loops just that section. This is useful for practising a specific phrase or passage without listening to the full arrangement every time.

Setting a part range

> On web: > The timeline in the player panel has left and right handles. Drag the left handle to set the start point and the right handle to set the end point. Make sure Loop is active for the selected section to repeat.

> On mobile: > 1. Tap the Select playable part button (the horizontal expand arrows icon) in the control row. A second slider appears above the main controls. > 2. The Loop button activates automatically β€” the selected section will repeat until you toggle loop off.

Adjusting start and end points (mobile)

The part selection slider has two handles. Time labels above the slider show the current start and end times.

By dragging:

  • Drag the left handle to set the start point.
  • Drag the right handle to set the end point.

By using the current playback position:

  1. Start playback and pause at the point you want as the start.
  2. Tap the Set start from current position button (the skip-next arrow icon on the left of the slider).
  3. Resume playback and pause at the point you want as the end.
  4. Tap the Set end from current position button (the skip-back arrow icon on the right of the slider).

Resetting the part range

> On web: Drag the handles back to the very start and end of the timeline.

> On mobile: Tap the reset button that appears between the two action buttons when a custom range is active. This clears the start and end points and restores playback to the full arrangement. You can also reset from the Mixer β€” see Mixer.

Closing part selection (mobile)

> Mobile only: Tap the Select playable part button again to hide the slider. The range you set stays active as long as Loop is on. Turning off loop stops the section from repeating, but the range is preserved if you turn loop back on in the same session.

Tips

  • Use part selection together with a slower playback speed to isolate and drill a challenging bar.
  • Set loop markers around a difficult passage and practise it on repeat without touching the timeline.
