Mixer

The mixer lets you control the volume of each individual vocal or instrumental track in an arrangement, and mute, solo, or switch tracks on and off. This is useful for practising your own part more clearly or focusing on a specific voice.

Opening the mixer

> On web: Click the Mixer button in the playback controls toolbar. On small screens the panel slides up as a sheet; on larger screens it appears as a sidebar on the right.

> On mobile: Drag the player panel upwards from the bottom of the screen. The panel expands to reveal the mixer below the playback controls. Drag the panel back down to collapse it without stopping playback.

The track list

Each track in the arrangement appears as a row in the mixer. Each row contains:

  • Track name β€” the name of the vocal or instrumental part.
  • M button β€” mutes this track.
  • S button β€” solos this track.
  • Volume slider β€” drag left or right to adjust the volume of this track.

> On mobile: Volume changes are saved automatically and restored the next time you open the same arrangement.

Enabling and disabling tracks

> Mobile only: If an arrangement has more tracks than the player can play simultaneously, a maximum number of active tracks is enforced. Tap a track name to toggle it on or off. A disabled (greyed out) track is removed from the audio mix entirely. If the maximum number of active tracks has already been reached, you will see a brief warning when trying to enable another track β€” disable a different track first.

Mute

Tap M on a track to mute it. The track remains active in the mix but produces no sound. Tap M again to unmute.

  • You can mute multiple tracks at the same time.
  • If a track is soloed and you mute it, the solo clears automatically.

Solo

Tap S on a track to solo it. All other tracks are suppressed so only the soloed track is audible. Tap S again to clear the solo and restore the full mix.

  • Only one track can be soloed at a time.
  • Tapping S on a muted track also removes the mute so you can hear it.

Resetting the mixer

> On web: Click Reset mixer to restore all tracks to their default volumes, mutes, and solo settings.

> On mobile: Tap the reset button (the circular arrow icon) at the bottom of the mixer. This restores all track volumes, mutes, and solo settings to their defaults, and also clears any part range set with the Select playable part tool.

> Note: After resetting, the arrangement will start with default mixer settings the next time you open it.

Reporting an issue

> Web only: If you notice a problem such as the score and audio being out of sync, tap Report issue inside the mixer panel. Choose the category that best describes the problem, add any details, and submit.

Tips

  • Setting your own voice part to a lower volume while keeping other parts audible can help you practise fitting into the ensemble.
  • Soloing just your part and slowing down playback is a fast way to learn a difficult phrase.
  • Use Solo on your own voice part to focus your practice, then gradually unmute the other parts.
